CAP10 C new wing - 1st Flight

The new carbon-wood wing of the Cap 10C made it's first flight on March 5th 2001.

For this occasion it was mounted on the fuselage of a Cap 10B n°246, obligingly placed at our disposal by the aero-club of Lausanne.

This flight appears to be a convenient period for us to give a progress report on a programm whose objectives where :
Improvements
Constraints
 1. Increase in useful load.
1. Unchanged geometry of the wing.
 2. Increase in safety margin.
2. Total interchangeability allowing mounting on a Cap10B fuselage.
 3. Increase in roll speed.
3. Selling price of the modification kit around 200,000FF ex tax. (~30,000E ex VAT).
 4. Reduction in aerofoil mass.
4. Certification according to JAR23.
 5. New landing gear.

CAP Aviation and APEX International group are proud to annonce today that all the objectives where met.

The work undertaken on the Cap 10C is true homage to a plane wich has made the dreams of several generations of pilots. It is for them, and to give a dream of the future, why CAP Aviation launched this program.
Beyond the conception of a new wing is, in fact, the assembly of an aircraft, which, item by item, is being redesigned using the most modern design methods to satisfy current requirements of design and product certificaton.

In spite of the severe restraints of the conditions schedule, CAP Aviation made a success of its project : the transformation of the CAP10B into a completely successful product, certified, on which the performance was improved on all points : payload, safety margins, roll rate, reliability, technical documentation, while respecting the aesthetic and aerodynamic choices of the original design.
