02.07.04    CAP10C Aerobatic Wing now FAA Validated

On July 2, 2004 , the Small Aircraft Directorate of the FAA issued a letter to Apex Aircraft approving a major change to the CAP10B.

The new wing structure, available in Europe since February of 2002, gives greater strength margins and a higher roll rate than the original design.  It is commercially named the CAP10C, and all CAP10 above serial # 300 have it.
The wing can be retro-fitted to existing CAP10B, of which about 30 currently fly in USA .

The CAP10 has been a popular aerobatic trainer for thirty years, and is often used in training for unusual attitude recovery and spins. Aerobatic performance, side-by-side seating and classic style give it a unique niche in the sport plane market.
At Oshkosh Airventure 2004, visit the CAP10C at Apex Aircraft, Main Aircraft Display booth 220, just north of the Theatre in the Woods.  More detail can be found at:

15.05.04
Inverted Stall Behavior CAP10C

The SFACT has approved the modifications made by Apex Aircraft to correct the inverted flight performance of certain new wings (to see for more details the site of France Voltige).

These modifications concern the glue support of the skin on the main spar, the equipment used, and the process of joining. These changes appreciably improve the contour of the skin around the leading edge.

The changes are already practiced in production.

The upgrade of the fleet will be made in the following way:

7 owners who have already indicated they have noticed this problem on their planes will be offered these modifications in our workshops, as soon as possible, under warranty.

The owners who have not indicated any problem will be contacted by our Customer Service  Department starting this week.  We will ask them to confirm that they have made the necessary flight checks and that they are not concerned. If they do have concerns, they will benefit from a modification under guarantee in the same conditions.
